Consulting Mentorship Program
We start this program assuming very little about your background, knowledge, experience and skill and build your consultancy from the ground up! As we move through the program, we’ll touch on each of the most important areas, and drill down into each subject to a degree most appropriate for you! The goal is to make sure you have the knowledge, skill and tools to conduct effective behavior modification cases and realize success for yourself and your clients!
The CBCM program includes:
- Up to one one-hour weekly meeting with your mentor (up to 45 meetings, factoring holidays, etc)
- Complete review of your skill set and core competencies, including gaps, to ensure you have the skills you need to fulfill your professional responsibilities, including:
- Assessment skills
- General knowledge and application of learning science
- Species-specific knowledge
- Consulting skills
- General knowledge of animal behavior
- Biological sciences as related to animal behavior
- Ethics
- Complete review and instruction in the stages of a structured behavior modification program, including
- Intake
- History-taking
- Assessment
- Development of training plan
- Implementation of training plan
- Selection of intervention steps
- Data collection and analysis
- Conclusion of case
- Ongoing support
- Complete instruction in production and maintenance of documentation, including
- Intake forms
- Best practices in taking histories and recording session notes
- Writing referral letters, including to general vets and vet behaviorists
- Writing case studies
- Photo and video journalling
- Case reviews
- Review 6 retrospective cases I will provide from assessment to conclusion
- Review of up to 4 of your cases, either retrospective or ongoing
This program is customized to meet the needs of the individual consultant, and is flexible and self-paced, however, it is expected that the program be completed withing one calendar year.
