Therapy Dog Training Class! If you’ve wanted to give back to your community and do more with your dog, here’s your opportunity! Our Therapy Dog Training Class will help you learn all the skills you need to perform visitation therapy at hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities, hospices and more! You and your dog can bring comfort to the sick and elderly, help kids learn to read in school and help calm people preparing their court testimony. We’ll evaluate your dog to determine what skills you’ll need to concentrate on, and help you work through a customized plan to get ready to do good! Our clinic format allows you to start whenever you’re ready. You can come to the classes you’re able to attend and skip the weeks you just can’t make it.
Therapy dogs provide much-needed comfort to the sick and elderly in hospitals, hospice, assisted living facilities and rehab centers. They also visit schools to help children with learning disabilities and emotional problems to enhance their learning experience. Therapy dogs provide a welcome outlet to college students during exam week, and young witnesses preparing testimony for court. The variety of settings where therapy dogs can help other people is huge!
Here are just a few of things you’ll learn:
* negotiate medical equipment and deal with wheelchairs, walkers, IV poles and more
* to walk calmly and under control through busy and unusual environments
* all the manners necessary to become a welcome addition to any therapeutic setting
